Back from the ford

This week, we’ve not been in Torbay and instead took a road trip on our way to the historic town of Hereford.

So when it came to doing the #BoostTorbayChat this week it was certainly optimistic  of us to think we would get to Hereford in time, needless to say it was done from the actual car whilst driving 70mph up the M5.

I hasten to add it wasn’t me tweeting that night, that role fell to my partner.

Normally on a Sunday I would spend the day updating the blog and preparing for the weeks tweets and scheduling the featured accounts tweets.  So this weeks update is coming a little later than originally planned.

Torquay Tweet Up

We are putting together the final arrangements this week, and will update you all in due course.

Over the years #BoostTorbay hasn’t done much, more than be a hashtag and has helped out in various community pursuits over the past few years.  However we’re now taking #BoostTorbay live with our very first live chat.  We are hoping to meet a lot of the faces behind the accounts that have been using our hashtag over the years.

We’ve limited the number of tickets to 50, so ensure you get yourself a ticket asap.  If it proves the #BoostTorbayChat up is a sell out then we may be able to put more on sale before the 7th October.

Brixham woman asks for help to win her perfect world on new TV show

Brixham woman and our featured account this week Lois Taylor (@LoisTaylor) has made it through to the final 50 people out of 5,000 that applied for a new TV show.

The new show, The Perfect World Project, will see a group of up to 10 people taken to a luxurious villa on an idyllic island and compete with each other for their chance to win the ‘perfect world experience’.

Lois Taylor is the only candidate here in the South West and she lives right in Torbay, in Brixham.

The next part of the selection process, and this is where you guys come in, will see all of the potential candidates be placed in an online poll where the public can vote for their favourite 20 people.

After this online poll the very next phase is the interview process which will see 20 become 10 to appear on the actual show.

Speaking to the Herald Express, Lois said

I just came across the show online and applied, I can’t believe it is all happening.

I need to get as many votes as possible to get me through to the final round, and hopefully onto the show to battle it out for my perfect world

If Lois wins the competition she said she would live out her perfect world dreams by travelling the world and visiting animals in their natural habitat.

Voting will close at 11pm on Friday September 30th and can be completed on The Perfect World Project website or Facebook page.

All of us here at #BoostTorbay wish Lois all the very best of luck and we are delighted that she has agreed to be our featured account for the week.

It’s all go

So this week after much thought and consideration,  I figured it was time I brought back the #BoostTorbayChat.

For those of you who will remember the #BoostTorbayChat you will remember it was done over a few weeks and after a short while we had to knock it on the head.  However, we promise that the #BoostTorbayChat is back and at a new time to boot.

So make a date in your diary, get a baby sitter or put the kids to bed by 8pm on Friday 16th September 2016 as #BoostTorbayChat is back.

Love Torbay Finalist

DSC_0019

On Friday, 2nd September 2016 Torbay brightened up to pay host to the Torbay Hour Social Media  Awards at the Redcliffe Hotel in Paignton.

Businesses, bloggers, and individuals from around the bay descended on the Redcliffe Hotel to enjoy an evening of fantastic food, great wine, superb service and of course the awards.

Celebrating some of the best accounts for use of  Facebook and Twitter.  Along with awards for the Best Integrated Social Media Campaign complete with other awards for Best Business Blog and Best charity/Non Profit Campaign.

There were also more special awards including Social Media King of Torbay and Social Media Queen of Torbay.

It was with great pride that we learned that #BoostTorbay had been nominated for the very special Love Torbay Award.  The competition to be nominated for this category is exceptional due to the sheer volume of people that all love Torbay.

As the names were read out, it was with a smidgen of luck that we would of won this award, however on this occasion it was not meant to be.

It feels awesome to of been recognised for the work  that #BoostTorbay does and to of been nominated for the Love Torbay Award.

That just leaves us one last thing to say, a big congratulations to all the winners of the Torbay Hour Social Media Awards and thank you to everyone who nominated us for the Love Torbay Award.

Here is to 2017!!!
